Every frame is imagined with intention, shaped by hand, and perfected through time by the artisans of André Opticas, who marry ancestral techniques with quiet innovation, always in service of detail and emotion.
Conceived by artist and designer Joana Astolfi, the space merges the intimacy of an atelier with the wonder of a museum. On the upper floor, guests are welcomed into a cabinet de curiosités — a chamber of marvels where vintage rarities sit beside bespoke creations and relics that trace the journey of a family devoted to the optical arts.
Downstairs lies the beating heart of the Atelier: a workshop where one can witness — in real time — the birth of bespoke eyewear, in a silent choreography of tools, acetate, horn, and hand-finished detail. A place where ancestral knowledge and contemporary design converge.

1. Consultation & Creation
Your experience begins with a one-to-one appointment in our Atelier in Lisbon, where we dedicate time to understanding you — your style, your daily habits, your facial architecture and your visual needs. Through thoughtful conversation and careful observation we guide you in selecting the frame shape, material and colour that best expresses who you are.
Next, we take detailed measurements: bridge width, temple length, eye-to-eye distance, facial contours and more. We then perform an in-depth vision assessment to ensure the lenses we recommend provide optimal comfort and clarity.
2. Craftsmanship & Precision
Each pair of glasses is treated as an individual work of art. We do not rush.
Our process is the antithesis of mass production: each frame is hand-finished through multiple stages, allowing light, form and character to emerge fully.
The material is shaped, polished and refined — every facet is meticulously attended to so the frame reflects your identity and unique facial geometry.
3. Fitting & Refinement
When your glasses arrive, you return to the atelier for a fitting session lasting at least an hour. This is where the frame and your face unite. We fine-tune the curve of the temples, the position of the nose pads, the angle of the lenses — eliminating any discomfort and ensuring the glasses sit with impeccable balance, deliver extraordinary comfort and enhance your vision.
