The Re-Make of an Icon.
The Grand Master 2, the second and most successful model in the Grandmaster series by DITA Eyewear, has become the latest piece to be customised by the André Opticas StyleLab.
The GM2 is already a classic in the DITA portfolio and a must-have for any high-end eyewear enthusiast. Celebrities such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Brad Pitt, Usher, Chris Brown, Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Lion, Fabolous, Sean Paul, and many others have showcased their GM2s on numerous occasions.
Handcrafted in Japan using traditional methods, with cotton acetate and titanium metals, DITA collaborated with André Opticas, the “dream store,” to create a limited edition of just 17 pieces worldwide. This exclusive GM2 features a matte tortoiseshell finish, specially developed for the collaboration, and titanium hinges plated with 24K gold—an edition for true connoisseurs who seek not fashion, but timeless style in an ultra-exclusive version.
Available exclusively at André Opticas stores.
We collaborated with ModaLisboa to produce the official association model. Since we were invited to showcase our treasure, we decided to invite our dear Eduarda Abbondanza to present us with an out-of-the-box design for a special edition… just 1 of 1.
Handcrafted using 100% manual techniques, the model Legacy by E. Abbondanza, created by the founder of ModaLisboa, is made from Asian Buffalo Horn—an eco-friendly, ultra-lightweight, hypoallergenic material with unique colour nuances and patterns characteristic of each animal.
Head over to Rua Augusta and experience this design piece firsthand, heart-made for the most discerning eyewear enthusiast, at André Opticas’ private exhibition – Por Detrás das Sombras (Behind the Shadows).
We collaborated with MUDE to create the model for the museum. Since we were invited to showcase our treasure, we decided to ask the institution to present us with a design – OUT OF THE BOX – to create a special edition… only 1 of 1 was made, and the final result is SUPER!!!
Crafted using 100% handmade techniques, the model – Study for an Asymmetry – created by the museum’s super curator Anabela Becho, was made from Asian Buffalo Horn. An eco-friendly, lightweight, hypoallergenic material that displays unique colour nuances and patterns characteristic of each animal.
Head to Rua Augusta to experience this design piece in person, heart-made for the most discerning eyewear enthusiasts, at the exclusive AndréOpticas exhibition – Behind the Shadows.
The exhibition “POR DETRÁS DAS SOMBRAS” (Behind the Shadows) evokes one of the accessories that has undergone the greatest transformation over time, presenting a selection from the André Opticas Collection (which includes over 3,000 vintage pieces), showcasing some of the most important items in the history of eyewear. In the vault room, a selection of around 400 pairs of glasses highlights the key brands, styles, designers, and changes in shapes and materials that have shaped the evolution of glasses from the 1950s to the present day. While it focuses on contemporary times, there are significant historical flashbacks, including examples from the 17th century.
The aim is to show the public the evolution of eyewear, its major transformations in shape, color, material, and applied technology, as well as how it has contributed to the definition of different styles and languages over time, being both actors and vehicles of various perspectives on material culture. André Opticas was founded in 1981 within an optical family in Oeiras.
In the same year, André Leal was born, and from an early age, he accompanied his parents on their travels, work, and shared passion for eyewear. By the age of 15, he already had experience in lens cutting, frame repairs, and it was around this time that his interest in collecting, especially bold eyewear models, began. Collecting has always influenced his life, his friendships, his travels, and his profession.
For the celebration of the first anniversary at Av. Liberdade nº136, we did more than just ‘toast’ the moment.
With the intention of marking the occasion with our continuous offer of ‘glasses for people from another world,’ we once again prepared a very special edition.
Made from Buffalo Horn.
A family of artisans with years of experience, in a small workshop in the Swiss Alps, handcrafts each piece. In an authentic made-to-order process, the piece is custom-made to your measurements and engraved with your name on the temple…
A unique piece, with the classy style of the 60s,
but with a personal touch from an edition created on Av. Liberdade.
